3 types of rainbows at Niagara Falls

After spending 3 days at Niagara Falls last year I loved it so much I had to come back for more. When I came back for the 2015 year I spent a whole week and on the weekends the falls are lit up at night by very large xenon lights on the Canadian side. The sun creates wonderful rainbows in the mist but when the sun goes down on the weekend the lights come on and they create their own rainbows of unique beauty. The lights from time to time change colors and this makes the rainbows even more interesting and seeing a monochromatic rainbow with 3 colors along its circle is very different. I also got nice regular double rainbows and using the wide angle fisheye field of view on my GoPro camera I got full circle rainbows too. My dad and I refer to full circle rainbows as "rain circles" and here is why: a half circle would be a bow but if its a full circle its not a rainbow anymore its a rain circle.

Started out as a segment of 22d halo and circumscribed halo with right parhelion and parhelic circle but later on a nice sheet of cirrus stratus clouds blew in and in the cirrus were hi-quality column and plate crystals. I was getting near the end of mowing the lawn and hurried up and in all got to see 22 degree halo and sharp oval halo that surrounds the 22 degree halo is a circumscribed halo from oriented hex column crystals, Infralateral arc also from hex column crystals, a complete parhelic circle and the bright horizontal rainbow colored arc near the horizon is a circumhorizontal arc. Some refer to the Circumhorizontal arc as a " fire rainbow" and it has nothing to do with fire or rainbows. Circumhorizontal arc is a spring and summer time halo only because the sun has to be over 58 deg elevation to form. if one lives at 57 deg latitude will not see it because sun won't get high enough but it can be seen in low level diamond dust at night around artificial light sources

Elliptical halo and corona 2-17-15

On my way to work I saw some C clouds rolling in and glanced the window to see iridescence but as soon as I got pulled over it was gone but a nice elliptical halo appeared and lasted a few minutes and got over a dozen pics before it was time to get going. I also got a nice corona too.
